NIPSCO tilts the deck against it's small consumer

Did you see this article recently from Keith Benman at the Northwest Indiana Times (which seems to have finally stopped trying to get me to subscribe to read.. whew..)
Consumer and Enviro Groups Bash NIPSCO Rare Hike January 26, 2016
let me join the rancor and quote Mr. Benman on a section I feel is particularly telling:

In its own testimony in the case, NIPSCO acknowledges customers who use less electricity will see steeper bill increases on a percentage basis than those who use more. For example, a customer using 400 kilowatts per month would see their bill go up 17.4 percent while someone using 1,000 kilowatts would see their bill increase just 8.8 percent.

Wow, did you get that?

NIPSCO is raising rates more on their small customers, basically hosueholds and mom and pop outfits, and less on their bigger consumers who are maybe more likely to install solar panels, or just notice or complain... yeesh..

People ask me why, if I am so conservative, I am not a republican, and I sometimes cite incidents like this. It's one thing to not help people up, it's naother thing to hold them down. NIPSCO as far as I know already charges across the board fees before consumption that are supposed to even out the administrative costs of the variety of demand they receive.. that makes this pretty unjustifiable insult to injury.

How do I feel about NIPSCO?... one more reason for me to refer you to the name of this Blog... sigh..

Who is minding these guys? We all appreciate a little audacity, but to be audacious, you first have to be good, and they aren't.
